The Ansón family, which gives its name to Bodegas Heredad Ansón, located in the town of Muel (Zaragoza, Spain), has a long tradition of growing vines and making wine dating back at least to the early 17th century. The first known ancestor of the family, Domingo de Ansón, is documented from the 1620s in the village of Mezalocha, in the area known as Campo de Cariñena, 5 km from Muel and 32 km from Zaragoza, capital of the former kingdom of Aragon.
