About the winery
Lagar del Duque is the Duque García family winery in Fuensaldaña, on the outskirts of Valladolid, within the D.O. Cigales. Its history goes back to around 1890, when the family bought their first hectare on the village slopes, and the estate grew under great-grandfather Adrián, grandfather Nereo and father Fermín, who is now handing over to his sons Alfonso and José Carlos, the fifth generation. They tend old vines with sustainable viticulture, checking them vine by vine, on sand, limestone and clay soils in a climate of sharp contrasts. They grow tempranillo, albillo, verdejo and garnacha, and mainly produce the Lagar del Duque rosé and red, plus a verdejo. The winery has a tasting room and organises guided visits with tastings of its wines.
