About the winery
Pago de los Abuelos is the project of grower and winemaker Nacho Álvarez in El Bierzo, created as a tribute to his grandparents, who bought the Barreiros vineyard in Puente de Domingo Flórez in the 1970s. After his grandmother died in 2015, Nacho restored the plot, built terraces and replanted, releasing his first vintage under the D.O. Bierzo in 2018. Today he farms some 35 mountain plots across San Pedro de Trones, Puente de Domingo Flórez and San Juan de Paluezas, with century-old Godello and Mencía vines in sites such as Teiró, Barreiros and Borrunde, and holds the heroic viticulture certification. His wines include Viñedo Saturno Mencía, Viñedo Barreiros and Godello Paraje Teiró. Nacho personally leads several experiences through his vineyards, with tasting included.
