About the winery
In the south of the province of Burgos, in the heart of the Ribera del Duero, lies the town of Gumiel de Izán, declared a Royal Town in 1326 by King Alfonso XI. It has a medieval layout and is a Historic-Artistic Ensemble. Right in the centre, at the foot of the parish church of Santa María, declared a Historic-Artistic Monument in 1962, is the underground winery Renalterra. According to our information, this cellar dates from the 14th century. It has been restored respecting the traditional style and fitted out for the ageing, bottling and labelling of D.O. Ribera del Duero wines.
