Viña Valdemazón is a family project founded in 2006 in Olivares de Duero (Valladolid), in the Golden Mile of the D.O. Ribera del Duero. It is run by Eduardo Martín García, who seeks expressive wines with character. The vineyard surrounds the winery at about 800 metres, on clay and limestone soils, and only Tinta del País is grown. Harvesting is by hand, bunches are sorted on a table, fermentation takes place in small tanks designed by the winery itself, and ageing is in French oak barrels for a time adjusted to each vintage. Visits are by reservation: they tell the story of the project, explain how the wine is made and finish with a tasting of their wine.
