Bodegas Agapita Rubio is a family business in Cañamero, in the Sierra de las Villuercas (Cáceres), with wines under the D.O. Ribera del Guadiana. Its story begins in 1946, when grandfather Juan Rubio Cuenca made the first wines; in 1982 his daughter Agapita and her husband José took over, and today their children, the third generation, carry on. The house is known for vino de pitarra, the traditional red of the area, which it bottles as Pitarra Garrucho. The range also includes El Tío Juan, from Tempranillo and Garnacha; Señorío de la Raña, with Alarije and Garnacha; Viña Cerro Cabrero, Sierra Carihuela, the Tempranillo crianza Campo Royero and the Macabeo whites Caserío del Coronito and Valdemujeres, the latter semi-sweet and lightly sparkling.
