About the winery
Bodegas Avancia is located on the slate slopes of Valdeorras, rising above the Sil river. Taking its name from the mining activity the Romans carried out in the area (Val-de-Oras could be translated from Latin as Valley of Gold), Valdeorras has an exceptional terroir, ideal for growing two of Spain's most important native varieties – Godello and Mencía. Jorge was the first importer to introduce Godello to the United States, and for many years he was the only distributor offering a wine made from this unique variety.
