The history of Bodegas Balbás goes back more than two hundred years in the Burgos village of La Horra. It was in 1777 that Abundio Balbás began making red wines from grapes he grew himself for local consumption since, at that time, every villager had a trade. The wine was transported and distributed in wineskins, also known as odres, something closely linked to the family until the evolution and arrival of bottles, as they practised the trade of wineskin makers until the end.
