About the winery

Bodegas Bigardo is a small family winery in Toro, in the DO Toro, that works only with its own grapes. Behind it is Kiko Calvo, who moved through hospitality, biology and oenology and worked harvests around the world before founding the winery in 2016; in 2020 it moved to a new winery beside the Duero, a few kilometres from town. He farms family-owned and leased vineyards in the Vega de Toro, in Valdefinjas and Bardales, with Tinta de Toro vines between 40 and more than 100 years old. Harvesting is by hand, each plot is fermented separately with the vineyard's own yeasts, and the wines age in barrels of different sizes. The wines include Bigardo, Satélite, Pellejo, Maldito Parné, Calma and Algoritmo. It offers visits and tastings at the winery and has a shop with tastings in the centre of Toro.
