Bodegas Bilbaínas is in Haro's Barrio de la Estación, in Rioja Alta, a location chosen to ship wine by train all over the world. Its roots lie in a Bordeaux house that came to Haro fleeing phylloxera, and in 1901 a group of businessmen from Bilbao bought the premises and built a large winery with underground cellars. It presents itself as the oldest bottler in La Rioja and brings together some 250 hectares of vineyards in and around Haro, with estates such as Zaco and Vicuana beside the Ebro. Its best-known brand is Viña Pomal, with crianza, reserva, gran reserva and single-varietal Graciano and Garnacha, and it also makes La Vicalanda and Ederra. It offers several guided visits of the winery and its cellars, with tastings, and a food experience among the vineyards.
