About the winery
Enbrión is a small family winery in Briones, in the D.O.Ca. Rioja, housed in La Cueva del Americano, an underground cellar in the Acera de en Medio wine quarter that may, it is said, be more than three centuries old. When they learned the cave was for sale they decided to buy it to make their own wine, and after a long restoration turned it into a winery and visitor space. The vineyard is looked after by José Miguel Gordo Díaz, a grower with some 35 years' experience, while Sonia Ledesma takes care of visitors. They work old bush vines between 80 and 120 years old, mostly Tempranillo with some Garnacha and Viura, as well as younger vines. They run guided visits to the cave with a tasting of their wines.
