Bodega FRG is in the Arribes del Duero, within the D.O. Arribes area, and grew out of the legacy of Francisco Rodríguez Garrote, a grower who kept century-old vines that had survived phylloxera and went on making wine from the Bruñal grape when others abandoned it. It is a small project, one winery and one winemaker, with its own vineyards on high-altitude granite and slate slopes and a Mediterranean climate with Atlantic influence. They work with Bruñal, Mencía and Malvasía using organic, traditional farming, hand harvesting, plots vinified separately and natural yeasts. Their red Palabras que no te dije, from the century-old Cortino La Candana vineyard, is a tribute to Francisco; the house white is Begoa.
