The idea of Hacienda Monasterio arose in 1990, when Peter Sisseck arrived in Ribera del Duero to run the winery and plant the vineyards. Two years later Carlos de la Fuente joined the team as Peter's right-hand man. The estate covers 167 hectares, 108 of which are planted with vines. It is located halfway between the villages of Pesquera and Valbuena de Duero, an area known throughout the world as «the golden mile» for the high quality of its wines.
