About the winery
The Heras Cordón family's making of Rioja red wine dates back to the 19th century. It was then that they built their first underground cellars, dug into earth and rock, in Lapuebla de Labarca, in Rioja Alavesa. In those early years production volumes were small, as the wine was intended for local consumption and sold in bulk. The Civil War brought a halt to the making of their Rioja red wine, which resumed shortly afterwards with a modernisation of the winery, including the making of crianza wines aged in oak barrels, mainly of French origin.
