Bodegas Horola

◍ La Rioja

About the winery

Bodegas Horola is a family winery in Baños de Río Tobía, in the Najerilla valley, in Rioja Alta. It works century-old vineyards, planted more than a hundred years ago and with very deep roots, and harvests by hand for a limited production. The grapes ferment in 500-litre French oak barrels, which are rotated daily, and the wine then rests for a few months on fine lees in the same barrels. It makes Garnacha, Tempranillo and Viura, as well as Horola MIL, a limited release, Horola Isabel and a Viñedo Centenario from old Najerilla vines. It offers guided tours of the winery explaining its artisan winemaking, with a tasting of three wines, and a version that adds local cured meats, cheeses and breads for pairing.
