About the winery
Bodegas Javier Ruiz was born of the enthusiasm and need to fulfil a dream. It took shape more than seventy years ago, when Modesto Ruiz Coca, a local farmer, decided it was time to do something with his grapes and began making white wines. He had a small underground cellar in his house. Above it was the winepress where, with a manual press, he obtained the musts that he then fermented in concrete tanks. Compared with today's technology the means were scarce, but it was a start. My grandfather carried on with his vineyards and his wine for much of his life.
