About the winery
Ladrón de Lunas is a family winery in Requena, in the hamlet of La Portera, within the D.O. Utiel-Requena. It occupies Finca Casa Nueva, a modernist building put up in 1905 by the architect Demetrio Ribes, now fitted with a sorting table, gravity-fed winemaking and an old vertical press. Its winemaker, Fernando Martínez Relanzón, is the sixth generation of a family devoted to wine. It has 24 hectares of its own, mostly Bobal, in high-altitude vineyards surrounded by pine forest, including Viña Dolor y Gloria, a century-old plot farmed organically. It also works with Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Verdejo, Macabeo, Godello and Albariño. It offers guided visits with a commented tasting and tapas or with a meal.
