Bodegas Manilva is a winery in Manilva, on Málaga's western coast, that makes its wines solely from old-vine Moscatel de Alejandría planted on white albariza soil, overlooking the Mediterranean. It is run by three families: Diego, the Andalusian partner and owner of the vineyard; Jaime and Nekane, who live in Bilbao; and Asier and Miriam, who own another winery in Santander. The project began in 2016 with a first experimental Kalma, and since 2017 the wine has been made in Manilva. Kalma is a dry white from the Pampanito hillside, under the DO Sierras de Málaga, hand-harvested and fermented in stainless steel. The visit covers the vineyard and the grape-drying beds, continues through the winery and ends with a tasting of their wines with an aperitif.
