Bodegas Ontañón

◍ La Rioja

About the winery

Bodegas Ontañón is the original project of the Pérez Cuevas family, born in Quel with the family vineyards, within the D.O.Ca. Rioja. Today it is run by Raquel, Leticia, Rubén and María, the fourth generation and children of Gabriel Pérez and Mari Luz Cuevas, who also have wineries in Rueda and Ribera del Duero. In the 1990s they opened their museum winery in Logroño, the Temple of Wine, decorated by Riojan artist Miguel Ángel Sáinz with motifs from classical mythology. They make three collections, Clásicos, Insólitos and Versos Sueltos, from native Rioja varieties. At the Temple of Wine, a few minutes from central Logroño, they offer tours with tastings and have a wine bar.
