Legend has it that in the town of Las Pedroñeras, in the very heart of La Mancha, there was an inn, a typical building that served as a resting place for hungry and weary travellers, like the one that served as setting and inspiration for Cervantes in his immortal Don Quixote. It was called the Venta de Pedro Heras. Around this inn, it is believed, lived a noble and famished greyhound, a sociable and somewhat shy animal that liked to drink the leftover wine left by the guests of the big house and to rest in the shade of a leafy vine.
