Bodegas Peláez is a family winery in Grajal de la Ribera, some 20 kilometres from Benavente, in the León D.O., with offices in the city of León. Its origins go back to the 1920s, when Baltasar Peláez made his own wine and, working as a muleteer, took it with his sons to sell in the León mountains. The family later built a traditional underground cellar that is still in use, and in 2004 put up a new winery for bottling and ageing. Today it is run by the third generation, who farm their own Prieto Picudo, Verdejo and Albarín vineyards. They make the crianza red Tres Almas, the Senoel red and rosé from Prieto Picudo, the Verdejo Airad, Papalaguinda and the semi-sweet Nanay.
