Bodegas Pincerna is in Grajal de Campos, in the D.O. León, and was born in 2013 on the site of the old Villacezán winery, owned by the García Luengos family, linked for generations to farming and vine-growing in León. It still works the Villacezán vineyards in the Cea river meadows, with an organic approach and century-old vines, and its name recalls the pincerna, the medieval servant in charge of pouring the finest wines for the lord. Winemaker Andrés Martín holds that wine is made above all in the vineyard. It works with two native grapes, Prieto Picudo for reds and rosés and the rare Albarín for whites, in wines such as Pincerna, Pincerna Sumiller, Fáfila Pétriz and La Retorcida. It holds tastings in the town's Renaissance palace and offers visits that can include the palace, the castle and the winery itself.
