Bodegas Puelles

About the winery

Bodegas Puelles is in Ábalos, in Rioja Alta and within the D.O.Ca. Rioja, on the El Molino estate, next to an old 17th-century mill the family bought from the town in 1844. The Puelles have been in the village for generations; they have sold wine since 1974 and first bottled at El Molino in 1987. Today the Puelles siblings run it, with clay-limestone vineyards between 450 and 630 metres, mostly Tempranillo, and an underground barrel cellar. They were among the first in the area to open up to visitors: tours are led by the family themselves, take in the winery and the vineyard and end with a tasting, and the estate also offers accommodation.
