About the winery
Bodegas Saura works in Caravaca de la Cruz, in north-western Murcia, within the D.O.P. Bullas, a land whose link with wine goes back thousands of years. In 2015 it launched its Viñedos de Utopía project, reviving vine growing in the area by planting 15 hectares of Monastrell and Garnacha fina, all bush-trained, dry-farmed and organic, on an estate with a continental climate softened by the Mediterranean. Harvesting is by hand in small crates and winemaking is traditional: destemmed grapes are blended with whole bunches, fermented in limestone tanks, finished in French oak foudres and bottled unfiltered. Its range includes Mesías, Raigón, Cogevientos, Viñedos de Utopía, Cauro Ventum, Black Cave and the rosé Luz del Quípar.
