About the winery

Bodegas Telperion is a small artisan winery in Tudela de Duero (Valladolid), about 15 kilometres from the city, in an area lying between D.O. Rueda and D.O. Ribera del Duero. It farms organic, dry-farmed vineyards in Tudela de Duero and Pozaldez, with old bush vines at around 800 metres above sea level on gravelly, limestone and sandy soils. It makes Tempranillo and Verdejo, harvesting by hand into small crates and fermenting spontaneously with native yeasts, without fining or filtering. The Telperion red is aged in French oak; the Verdejo El Rayo que no cesa ferments for 45 days on its skins and rests in demijohns, and the En Rama line is bottled without added sulphites. The winery itself cites scores of between 89 and 92 points in the Peñín Guide.
