Bodegas Virtus is in Aldeyuso, next to Peñafiel (Valladolid), in the D.O. Ribera del Duero. It brings together two stories of the López de la Osa Escribano family: wine and horse dressage. Paloma Escribano, one of the first women entrepreneurs in wine in the area, set it up, and in 2012 her son Iñigo and his wife Francesca Franco relaunched the project. They have vines around the winery and old plots in Sotillo de la Ribera, Hontoria de Valdearados, Villálvaro, Moradillo de Roa and La Horra. They make 100% Tempranillo reds, such as El Sueco and Virtus Gran Reserva, and Albillo Mayor whites. The private visit covers the vineyard, winery and barrel room, with a barrel tasting and a tasting of three wines with a tapa.
