About the winery
Bodegas y Viñedos Alión belongs to Tempos Vega Sicilia and is located near Peñafiel (Valladolid), between the Duero and the Soria road, in the D.O. Ribera del Duero. Its name recalls the district in León where the patriarch of the Álvarez family, owners of the group, was born. The winery began making wine with the 1993 harvest, aiming to create a wine with its own personality rather than a younger sibling of Vega Sicilia. In 2000 it introduced fermentation in oak vats, and expansion works were completed in 2009. The wine is aged in new French oak barrels, and the house only uses grapes from vines at least ten years old.
