Bodega Las Calzadas is a family winery in Pozoamargo (Cuenca), a village of about 300 inhabitants in the D.O. Ribera del Júcar. It is run by José Julián Sevilla, grower and winemaker, Josefina Medina and their son Daniel Sevilla, a winemaker trained in La Rioja with experience in Australia and New Zealand, who returned to the village to revive lost vineyards and winemaking traditions. They organically farm their own old vines and make wine in rescued century-old La Mancha clay jars under the Tinácula brand, with reds such as Tinácula Red, Tinácula X, El Santillo and El Imperio. The winery is decorated with oil paintings by Josefina, offers visits and tastings, and has a restaurant serving Cuenca cuisine and a shop of La Mancha products.
