About the winery
Bodegueros Quinta Esencia is in Castronuño, in the Valladolid part of the D.O. Toro. It was founded in 2006 by winemaker Ramiro Carbajo, who has a long track record at wineries such as Pago de Carraovejas, Barón de Ley and Jacques et François Lurton, and Florentino Ferrín, a passionate self-taught wine lover, with the idea of making their own wine with no strings attached. They began with a single red, Sofros, from five and a half hectares of old vines aged in new French oak every year. Today the range has grown with the Sofros P&M line, which includes a rosé, an underwater-aged wine, a Godello and an Albarín; Silbón, with a Toro, a Verdejo and an Albarín; Al-Nabiz, in organic and oxidative versions; and Nabateo, with sweet wines from Albillo and a red. Their philosophy comes down to land, climate and passion.
