About the winery
Bodegues Besalduch Valls (BVB) occupies the old cooperative winery of Sant Mateu, in the Baix Maestrat area of Castellón, built in the mid-20th century; it once handled huge harvests before lying idle for decades as vineyards were grubbed up. In 2019 new partners revived it with fresh plantings in Les Llomes de Sant Mateu, a commitment to organic farming and, together with the Universitat Politècnica de València, the recovery of the old Carló wine. They work with Tempranillo, Merlot, Garnacha, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Moscatell, in ranges such as Grans Maestres, Maestrat, 1961 and special wines aged with old mother wines. The winery houses a wine museum and offers visits, tastings and wine and olive oil tourism activities.
