Castell d'Encús owes its origin to the impact the place had on Raül Bobet in 2001, when he was looking for land that could lessen the effects of climate change on vines in the Catalan Pyrenees. The elevation of the estate (850-1,000 metres), in an area with good sun exposure and surrounded by extensive woodland, together with a historic slope that has a hermitage and old grape fermentation vats carved into the rock by the Hospitaller monks (12th century), make it a privileged and magical setting.
