About the winery
Castúo Wines is a small family winery in Villalba de los Barros, in the Tierra de Barros district of Badajoz, part of the D.O. Ribera del Guadiana area. The project started in 2020, after several years of vineyard trials with local varieties, and its name combines Extremadura's castúo dialect with an international outlook. It works with local farmers who practise regenerative agriculture, with bush vines on reddish soils at about 400 metres, and favours minimal intervention and traditional clay tinajas alongside barrels. Its grapes include pardina, eva, morisca, trincadeira and garnacha tintorera, and its wines include Arrebujao white and red, Ciringoncia, Facatúa, Envejao and Finca Lumbrarillo. The visit covers the vineyard, winemaking and ageing and ends with a tasting.
