Cillar de Silos
About the winery
Founded in 1994 by Amalio Aragón together with his children, its origins go back to 1970, when the father began acquiring small plots from neighbouring growers, dreaming of one day making a wine from Quintana del Pidio. When he decided to create his own winery he named it Cillar de Silos in tribute to the monk historically in charge of supplies at the Monastery of Silos. The cillero was responsible for organising the pantry, or cillería, with the wine and food needed for the monks' daily life.
