Dominio D´Echauz
About the winery
Dominio D'Echauz is the García-Baigorri family estate in Zayas de Báscones, in the Soria part of the D.O. Ribera del Duero, at almost a thousand metres above sea level. It covers 787 hectares, around 130 of them vineyard and much of the rest forest, and was mostly planted using Keyline design to regenerate the soil, curb erosion and make the most of water. The project builds on decades of work by the Vitis Navarra nursery and preserves a huge collection of ancestral varieties, with more than 16,000 biotypes, under a philosophy they call preservation viticulture. The visit tours the estate and winery, explains this way of working and ends with a guided tasting of three wines: Dominio D'Echauz, María D'Echauz Clarete and María D'Echauz Albillo Mayor.
