About the winery
Ébano Viñedos y Bodegas was founded in 2004 in Castrillo de Duero (Valladolid), within the D.O. Ribera del Duero, as a project of the Valmiñor group. Its strength is the careful selection of plots and grapes, with hand harvesting and low yields in a vineyard where green pruning, cluster thinning and soil and leaf analyses are carried out. It works with Tempranillo and ages its wines in some 400 French oak barrels. The name refers to ebony wood, whose deep dark colour its reds aim to evoke. It makes two wines: Ébano 6 and Ébano Salvaje, the latter from the lowest-yielding vines.
