About the winery
Grandes Vinos y Viñedos is a winery in Cariñena, in Zaragoza, within the D.O.P. Cariñena. It was created in 1997 from the merger of several cooperatives in the area, founded between 1950 and 1967 in Villanueva de Huerva, Alfamén, Aguarón, Cosuenda and Cariñena itself, and today it brings together more than seven hundred grape-growing families. They farm vineyards at different altitudes on stony soils, shaped by the cierzo wind, with fourteen grape varieties. Their catalogue is broad: classic lines such as Anayón, Corona de Aragón or Monasterio de las Viñas, and more casual ones such as El Circo or Núbilo, as well as alcohol-free wines. The visit in Cariñena covers the tanks, bottling line, barrel hall, cloister and museum, and at weekends visitors go to the Aguarón winery, where the Anayón wines are made.
