La Bodeguita Escondida describes itself as one of the smallest wineries in Rioja. The building dates from the late 19th or early 20th century and was put up by the family to make the wine that partly paid the harvest workers. Early this century the family brought it back to life: a small production area and an underground cellar of stone with a brick vault, with room for the grapes of barely one hectare, because they put quality before quantity. They aim for wines that smell of grapes rather than oak. They make the Ama y Ensancha el Alma range, with a white, a rosé and a red worked in barrel, and Garnacheando, a single-varietal Garnacha, as well as the organic olive oil Olea Jacta Est. The visit is tailored, with an explanation of how the wine is made, a tasting of wines and oil and something to nibble on.
