About the winery
Mas de l'Abundància is an estate in El Masroig, in the Montsant D.O., on the border with the Priorat, between the Siurana river and the old sanctuary of Les Pinyeres. Its land belonged to the prior of Scala Dei until the disentailment, and it still keeps the boundary stones he set up. The wine project began in 2002 with Jesús del Río Mateu, and in 2024 Ryan Vanderpol and Nikki Katsutani took over, with winemaker Edouard Chevalier. They organically farm Grenache, Carignan, white Grenache and some Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah on llicorella slate, clay and granitic sand. Their flagship wine is Abundància, alongside Samsó de Philip, the white de Calpino from 1897 vines, Flvminis, Hema, Navili and Mauka.
