Matallonga
About the winery
Celler Matallonga is a family project in Fulleda, in Les Garrigues, within the D.O. Costers del Segre, launched with the 2010 harvest. It is run by the families of Cal Banya and Cal Ventosa: Rosa Xifré handles management and visits, Joan Penella works the vineyard and cellar, and Alba Penella, the next generation, leads the winemaking, following the path opened by grandfather Ramón Xifré. Its dry-farmed vineyards lie at about 650 metres, surrounded by the Fulleda forest. They make Escorça, Maixant, Saüc with elderflower, Vi del Banya, Selecció, K-tharsis, the natural Quatre dimonis and Rosat M, from Merlot. The visit includes a tour of the winery and a tasting of three wines with local produce, and in autumn and winter it can come with a grilled breakfast.
