About the winery
Olga Verde Viñadora is the personal project of Olga Verde, a Galician winemaker who works in Otero, a small mountain village near Corullón, within the D.O. Bierzo. After harvests in Spain, Chile and New Zealand and a spell as a sommelier, she has been winemaker at Bodegas Godelia since 2013 and heads the Bierzo Enoturismo association. On the north-facing slopes of Otero and Corullón she organically farms less than a hectare of very old vines, mainly Mencía, and is restoring another century-old plot in Hornija. Her goal is not volume but wines that reflect a cool mountain vineyard. She makes Toxo, fruity, floral and slightly wild, and Fontecalada, a Mencía made by hand in an open vat with whole bunches.
