Queirón is the Ontañón Familia project in Quel, the family's home village in Rioja Oriental. The winery occupies number 9 in the historic Barrio de Bodegas of Quel, in the Cidacos valley, between the Sierra de Yerga and the Peña Isasa. They farm high-altitude vineyards on the slopes of Yerga, paying attention to biodiversity and to Rioja's historic varieties: Garnacha, Tempranillo, Graciano and Tempranillo Blanco. Their first wine was Queirón de Gabriel Reserva, from Tempranillo and Graciano, a tribute to Gabriel Pérez, a grape grower from Quel. Today they also make Mi Lugar, from bush-trained old-vine Garnacha and Tempranillo; Mi Lugar Tempranillo Blanco; El Arca, from a vineyard of century-old Garnacha, and the experimental series Ensayos Capitales.
