About the winery
Real Sitio de Ventosilla is the historic estate in Gumiel de Mercado, beside the Duero, where Bodegas Pradorey grows its vines within the D.O. Ribera del Duero. It once belonged to Isabella the Catholic and to the Duke of Lerma, who built a palace there to host Philip III. In 1989 it was bought by Javier Cremades de Adaro, who planted an extensive vineyard divided into plots such as La Mina, Prado del Rey and Los Quemados, mainly with Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Its most special wine, Pradorey Finca Real Sitio de Ventosilla, is only made in exceptional vintages. In recent years the winery has been working with clay jars and has planted white varieties. It offers several kinds of guided visits with tastings, and the estate has an inn and a restaurant.
