Rexach Baqués is a family cellar in Guardiola de Font-Rubí, in the Alt Penedès, now run by the fourth generation. It all began in 1910, when Pere Baqués Rafecas, born in the village in 1885, started making still wines; the cellars were dug by hand, and in 1955 Pere Rexach Baqués took over, later joined by his daughter Montse Rexach Peixó. Their traditional cavas are made with parellada, xarel·lo and macabeu and aged for 36 to 48 months: Brut Nature Gran Reserva, Brut Imperial Reserva, Gran Carta, Brut Rosat Reserva and P. Rexach Gran Reserva. They also make La Mina, an organic 100% macabeu white. The guided visit, booked in advance, covers the vineyard, the cellar, disgorging, labelling and a private museum, and ends with a tasting.
