This cider house was founded in 1928 in the Contrueces neighbourhood by Manuel de Ángel Rubiera; it then passed to his son Senén Rubiera. Senén had two sons, Manolo and Roberto Rubiera; it ended up in Roberto's hands and over time passed to his son, the current cider maker, Iván Rubiera. It all began in the late 1920s, when a carter by trade with a passion for cider (he already made cider at home, in the Gijón neighbourhood of Mareo) decided to dig out a plot of land in the Contrueces area; afterwards, he installed a custom-built cider press.
