About the winery
The story of Sidra El Gobernador began in 1993 when Roberto and Francisco Martínez Sopeña, aged 25 and 24 respectively, decided to bring to life an idea they had been slowly developing. The venture was quite risky given the enormous tradition and respect the cider sector enjoys in Asturias. But the Martínez Sopeña brothers were not starting from scratch: having run the well-remembered El Faraón cider bar in Villaviciosa for many years had allowed them to know the world of cider thoroughly from more than one point of view.
