Sierra de Toloño

◍ Álava

About the winery

Sierra de Toloño is a grape-growing and winemaking project that Sandra Bravo launched in 2012 in Villabuena de Álava (Eskuernaga), in Rioja Alavesa and within the D.O.Ca. Rioja. She works old-vine plots in high areas of the Sonsierra and Rioja Alavesa, at the foot of the range that gives the project its name, between 630 and 680 metres, on clay-limestone slopes surrounded by holm oaks and scrub. She farms organically and biodynamically, seeing the vineyard as a living organism, and makes artisan wines with the freshness that altitude brings. The range includes Sierra de Toloño red, white and rosé, La Dula from high-altitude Garnacha, Raposo, Camino de Santa Cruz, Nahikun white and red, and Tereseño.
