Víctor Ausejo Viticultor is a micro-project of artisan wines in Alberite, in the Iregua valley (Rioja Oriental), a village with a grape-growing tradition where hardly anyone made their own wine. It began in 2018 with some 400 bottles of Víctor Ausejo Garnacha Blanca, aiming to step away from Tempranillo and champion the Iregua and its minority varieties. Today it makes single-varietal wines from Garnacha Blanca, its hallmark, Garnacha Tinta and Mazuelo, as well as Parcela 333. The grapes come from vineyards less than 10 km from the winery, such as El Peinao in Clavijo, Los Pepones in Sojuela, at the foot of Moncalvillo, and La Colorada in Alberite, farmed without herbicides. The wine is made in a garage fitted out as a wine workshop, with minimal intervention.
