The D.O.P. Campo de Calatrava has 2 wineries you can visit in the centre of the province of Ciudad Real, in a district of 16 municipalities such as Almagro, Bolaños de Calatrava, Miguelturra, Moral de Calatrava, Valenzuela de Calatrava and Aldea del Rey. It is one of the most recent appellations in Spain, registered by the European Union in 2024, in a land shaped by the history of the Order of Calatrava. Check its page to choose a winery and book your tasting.

It is the most important area of recent volcanic activity in the Iberian Peninsula, with more than 240 volcanic structures, ridges of 700 to 900 metres and small plains at around 630-650 metres. Its dark, stony, clay soils, rich in nickel, warm up early and bring ripening forward, under a dry climate with barely 400 mm of rain a year. Cencibel and Airén, bush-trained and dry-farmed, sit alongside Syrah, Petit Verdot and Verdejo. Fresh, structured whites, rosés and reds, ideal with Almagro aubergines or Manchego cheese.
