Altos de Ontañon

◍ Burgos

About the winery

Altos de Ontañón is the winery in Fuentecén, in the Burgos part of Ribera, of the Rippa Dorii project, through which the Ontañón family from Rioja makes wine on both sides of the Duero, in the D.O. Ribera del Duero and Rueda. In Ribera they work Tinta del País on terraces, plateaus and valley floors in the Riaza basin, a strongly continental area, producing Rippa Dorii Roble and Crianza. In Rueda they make Verdejo, also in an organic version. Their Geografías collection brings together single-vineyard wines: Los Curas, a Verdejo from soils of rounded stones, and Salomón, from a small old bush-vine vineyard in Fuentecén itself, on limestone and white clays. They aim to intervene as little as possible so that each plot can express itself.
