The D.O. Pla i Llevant gathers 14 wineries you can visit in the centre and east of Mallorca, in the Balearic Islands, with hotel accommodation options. A Mediterranean wine route that combines vineyard, sea and island countryside. Filter the wineries and book your tasting in the very heart of the island.
The native varieties Callet, Mantonegro and Fogoneu stand out in reds, and Prensal blanc (Moll) and Giró Ros in whites, alongside foreign grapes such as Merlot, Syrah or Chardonnay. The vineyards spread across Felanitx, Manacor and Porreres on brown and calcareous soils, under a warm, dry climate. Luscious reds and fresh whites that pair with sobrasada and tumbet.

There are currently 13 registered wineries, 70 winegrowers and 440 active hectares of vineyard. The climate is typically Mediterranean, characterised by mild temperatures in winter and very hot ones in summer, with the rainy season concentrated in autumn and spring with an average of 450 mm.
The DOP Pla i Llevant collaborates in the recovery of native varieties, supporting various research carried out by the University of the Balearic Islands.
Likewise, in 2017 a project was presented for the creation of a bank of native yeasts on the island, since until then no such service existed.
As an immediate achievement, the DOP Pla i Llevant has promoted the creation, for the 2018-2019 academic year, of the island's first training in viticulture and winemaking, creating a higher vocational training course which will be taught at the IES of the municipality of Felanitx, a municipality that currently serves as the seat of the DOP Pla i Llevant and the IGP Mallorca, covering 80% of the wine made on the island.
The vines are located at less than 100 metres in altitude, practically at sea level, which regulates the summer heat through the action of sea breezes called "embat". This sea breeze regime brings a certain salinity to the grapes that is later captured in the wines, contributing to their special personality.
The "Embat" regime is established daily as a result of the variation in temperature. The wind blows from sea to land during the hours of maximum sunshine and its direction reverses, with less intensity, during the night. In the Pla i Llevant area, during the warm season of the year, a regime of converging maritime "Embats" develops, which favours a moderation of temperatures and determines the formation of cloudiness and, at times, rainfall.
The climate of the area is typically Mediterranean, characterised by mild temperatures in winter and very hot in summer. The average annual rainfall is 450 mm. The rainy periods are mainly concentrated in autumn and spring.
